2002-Present  Math/Language Arts Teacher - Shepherd Middle School - Ottawa, Illinois

• Taught general math, pre-algebra, social studies, and language arts at the seventh grade level
• Co-taught with the instructional support teacher and the alternate education teacher
• Communicated with parents about their children’s academic progress
• Conducted individualized tutorial sessions before and after school
• Collaborated with the other seventh grade math teacher to design and develop a new math curriculum aligned to the Illinois Assessment Frameworks
• Created and implemented an intensive problem solving unit

2000-2002 Seventh Grade Math Teacher - Sandwich Middle School - Sandwich, Illinois

• Provided instruction in general math to four sections (115 total students) at the seventh grade level
• Designed and updated two web pages listing daily homework, team news, and parent/student resources
• Encouraged writing across the curriculum through a class newsletter using Microsoft Publisher

• Organized a celebration of Pi day on March 14

       Attend weekly meetings with five other teachers and guidance counselor, collaborate on ways to assist  
       struggling students, discuss ways to implement RtI, plan special reward days for students and educational field
       trips.
2002-Present    Member of Mathematical Department Committee - Shepherd Middle School
        Collaborated with three other middle school mathematics teachers on ways to improve our instruction, align
        our curriculum, and raise ISAT test scores.
2006-2007 & 2009-Present Member of Leadership Team - Shepherd Middle School
        Attend meetings with five other teachers, the guidance counselor, librarian, assistant principal, and principal
        to create and implement our school improvement plan, design programs to increase staff morale, and help 
       create the schedule for ISAT week.
2006-2007    Member of Standards Aligned Classroom Team - Shepherd Middle School
        Attended a two-day training on a standards aligned classroom, met monthly to create ways to align our
       classrooms to the Illinois Learning Standards while focusing on reading across the curriculum.

Computer Skills
I am proficient on numerous software applications for both Microsoft and Apple including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Works, Apple Works, Microsoft Movie Maker, iMovie, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Publisher, Powerschool, Internet, United Streaming, Study Island, CBR (calculator based ranger), Geometer’s Sketchpad, Geogebra, and Smartboard.
